Flowers Bloom Brightest in the Darkest Night: Little Red’s Blues of Solitude and Rebirth Late at night, when it's time to pour some cheap bourbon into a lowball glass, a man can't help but want to indulge in the "romance of solitude." Of course, in my case, whenever I try playing the brooding lone wolf nursing a drink at the bar counter, I'm usually hit with the cold, hard reality that nobody has replied to my messages, leaving me swirling my ice alone while trying to ignore the ache in my knees. But there is real music in this world that can only be played by those who truly know the depths of darkness. The track that recently caught my ear over a glass is "Bloom," the new single from Little Red, a folk trio based out of Oxford and Reading in the UK. Any fellow drinkers who have a penchant for the smoke-and-night-dew-soaked sounds of Mark Lanegan, PJ Harvey, or Isobel Campbell will surely have their thirst piqued at the mere mention of their name. …
